Urology

Urology is the study of diseases of the urinary tract; i.e. the kidneys and the urinary bladder of both sexes.

As the central hospital, the Basel-Liestal University Department of Urology offers the full spectrum of urological and uro-oncological procedures. We specialize in the complete range of minimally invasive surgical techniques, such as laparoscopy, retroperitoneoscopy and laser surgery. A specific focus of our clinical activities is on procedures that treat benign prostate enlargement (GreenLight Laser, plasma kinetic vaporization, bipolar TURP) and malignant prostate cancer (prostatectomy and brachytherapy), renal tumors (e.g. laparoscopic kidney tumor removal) and bladder tumors (TURB, PDD, cystectomy).

Due to the many years of experience with minimally invasive surgical techniques, we are able to perform further specialized procedures. For more information, please refer to our list of treatments.

Together, the sister urological clinics in Basel and Liestal make up the Basel-Liestal University Department of Urology at University Hospital Basel.

The clinic in Basel treats patients on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Emergency services are available at both clinics, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Consultations are available from Monday to Friday, mornings and afternoons (see contact).
