Nursing excellence supporting patient welfare

Nursing staff at University Hospital Basel (USB) promise to deliver the highest standard of patient care, founded upon medical expertise and considerate treatment of patients. To meet this commitment, we take responsibility for providing an efficient, effective and cost-conscious service.

All our patients are entitled to receive a quality of nursing that is personalised, compassionate and consistent. We include both the patients and their next of kin in our interdisciplinary decision-making process. A professional care plan is drawn up by highly qualified nursing staff and implemented as required, with all patient outcomes regularly assessed.

The purpose of our vocational training in nursing practice is to promote medical, social and personal skills in equal measure. This approach ensures we attract the right type of people to the nursing profession. We see our hospital partly as a learning organisation, where the continuous refinement of our skills is a matter of course. This applies not only to nursing, but also to the attendant medical, technical and therapeutic professions.
