Congratulations to Petros for attracting funding to continue his project on "Muscle function and dynamic and postural stability in patients receiving hip or knee arthroplasty". Petros started and worked on this project during his 1-year clinical research fellowship. The funding allows him to get the necessary research support now that he is back in the clinic. Major funding for research on load-induced glenohumeral translation
Our team was awarded major funding by the Swiss National Science Foundation for our project "Influence of additional weight carrying on load-induced changes in glenohumeral translation in patients with rotator cuff tear - a translational approach". This project will be carried out in collaboration with Prof Baumgartner of the Zurich Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften in Winterthur, Switzerland.

Simon Herger, who started his PhD! He will study the dose-response relationship of in vivo ambulatory load and mechanosensitive cartilage biomarkers and the role of age and tissue health.
Larissa Ilchmann, a physiotherapist, who will complete her M.Sc. thesis on muscle strength and postural stability in patients receiving hip arthroplasty.
Yuancheng Zhang, a clinical research fellow from China, who will investigate the relationship between pelvis alignment and fatty atrophy in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis.
Angela Boutellier wins Best Master Thesis 2019 Award
Angela has been awarded the Best Master Thesis in Physiotherapy 2019 by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) for her thesis on "Trunk muscle function in persons with and without chronic nonspecific low back pain: differences in muscle strength, strength endurance and activity and their association with functional limitations". Congratulations!

Installation of Kistler force plates

Today, Prophysics AG installed our new walkway with two embedded Kistler force plates. This installation complements our current equipment to facilitate instrumented overground and treadmill gait analysis and balance testing.

New Vicon system installed
Today, prophysics installed our new 8-camera Vicon system (Vicon Vero 2.2 with Nexus 2) and the unloading system airwalk 50. These systems facilitate our planned projects on foot biomechanics in clinical populations and on in vivo mechanosensitivity of articular cartilage
