Internal medicine covers a wide range of different clinical pictures. The task of internal medicine is to recognize, treat and prevent these different diseases. We provide comprehensive care for patients with common but also complex clinical pictures. As many diseases affect several organs at the same time, we work closely with specialists from different disciplines. Teaching and research are also an important part of a university hospital.

Together with the university, the University Hospital implements innovative treatment-relevant research projects. Patients benefit directly from this, as the latest knowledge is applied directly in our clinics.
Further education and training
The University Hospital Basel works closely with the University of Basel. Important tasks of the university are the training of future doctors and nursing scientists as well as medical and nursing research.
