In this symposium, we will examine ethical and legal issues surrounding the topic of child welfare in medicine. In particular, the question of how professionals can deal with ethical challenges in the treatment of children and adolescents will be explored.

You can expect presentations on the following topics (subject to change):

• The concept of the best interests of the child in medicine
• The legal basis for the best interests of the child in Switzerland and the role of the KESB
• The best interests of the child in obstetrics - Pregnancy conflicts
• Conflicts between the best interests of the child and parental authority in pediatrics
• Between autonomy and care in child and adolescent psychiatry
• Gender dysphoria in childhood and adolescence: treatment in the area of conflict between social controversies, changing values and child welfare
