Doctor questions patient as part of a medical assessment

Medical assessment

The medical assessment can be carried out on a monodisciplinary, bidisciplinary or polydisciplinary basis.

This means that either only one (monodisciplinary) or two (bidisciplinary) specialties carry out the examinations and assessments. In a multidisciplinary assessment, different specialties, such as internal medicine, rheumatology, neurology and psychiatry, are involved together.

In the case of multidisciplinary assessments, a case-leading doctor is responsible for coordinating and bringing together the individual specialist views.

In our clinical department "asim Assessment", we prepare 600 multidisciplinary medical assessments in complex situations every year on behalf of social and private insurance companies in order to provide insured persons with a rapid and comprehensive medical assessment and clarify insurance-related issues.

In the case of mono- or bi-disciplinary assessments, we coordinate these for the specialist clinics of the University Hospital Basel or carry them out ourselves, depending on the specialist discipline.

Our asim medical team is responsible for the various medical disciplines and is supplemented by other specialists from the University Hospital.

We prepare medical reports for the assessment of benefits in social insurance or for the assessment of claims for life/health or liability in private insurance.

If you register an Explorand or Explorandin for an assessment, please note the following points:

In order for us to carry out a serious assessment, we require a written assignment from you with precise questions, details of the person to be assessed, all available medical documents and other documents relating to the case (in particular police reports in the case of accidents).

Upon receipt of the order, we will send a confirmation to the explorer and a copy to you - as the client - stating the period during which the assessment will take place.

We take over the invitation of the explorer and the entire organization of the assessment.

We ask you to coordinate your order with any other insurance companies involved.

It is possible to place an express order for a particularly rapid assessment.

You will undergo a comprehensive medical examination with us. We clarify insurance-related questions. Please note that only your insurance company, a court or another institution can register you for an assessment.

The assessment with us usually takes between one and three days. If you are coming from out of town, you have the option of staying overnight in a hotel. Before inviting you, we will send you various forms by post (admission form / medical information, release from the duty of confidentiality). Please return these to us as soon as possible, otherwise we will not be able to carry out your assessment.
