Wards and outpatient clinics

Outpatients in the various surgical disciplines are cared for from Monday to Friday in the Surgery Outpatient Clinic.

The outpatient clinic offers specialist consultations as well as surgical aftercare for oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic, reconstructive, aesthetic and hand surgery, spinal surgery, neurosurgery, visceral surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiac surgery and vascular surgery. The Surgery Outpatient Clinic also has an operating theater for elective outpatient procedures.

A nursing team of qualified nurses, wound experts, medical practice assistants, dental assistants and a nursing assistant are available to provide competent care for patients.

Surgical outpatients are cared for in the Surgical Outpatient Clinic from Monday to Friday.

The ward operates general surgical consultation hours and specialist consultation hours for hand surgery, traumatology, visceral surgery and vascular surgery and 2 operating theaters for elective outpatient procedures.

A team of qualified nurses and wound experts is available to provide competent care for patients.

We care for patients with urological diseases, both elective and emergency cases. We offer the following services: General and special consultations - examinations, endoscopic diagnostics/treatment and surgical procedures. An on-call service ensures emergency patient care outside office hours.

Our team is made up of nursing staff, nursing assistants and surgical assistants.

Our aim is to offer patient-centered treatment. The basis for this is an appreciative and cooperative approach to our patients and their relatives. Goal-oriented, interdisciplinary and interprofessional cooperation with all professional groups involved in the treatment process is important to us.

Regular further and advanced training ensures the further development of knowledge and skills in the department.

We support trainees from all nursing professions during their internships in the urology outpatient clinic and in the operating theater. They are trained by nursing staff and prepared for professional practice in accordance with the training mandate.

The short-term medical clinic works with doctors of internal medicine as in an attending physician system. The doctors of internal medicine provide care and optimal treatment for patients. The short-term clinic is intended for short-term hospitalization for the clarification of illnesses or the implementation of intensive therapies. Hospitalization is limited to a maximum of six days. Outpatients and inpatients are cared for in the short-term clinic. Referrals are made via the various specialist departments of the hospital.

Management structure

The short-term medical clinic is a department that cares for patients from various specialties. The special feature of the management structure is the rotation system of chief physicians from different specialties who care for inpatients in the short-term medical clinic.

At present, Prof. Daiana Stolz, Head of Pneumology, is also Medical Director of the Short-Term Medical Clinic.

Surgery B4.6 is a ward with 36 beds.

We treat patients with urological, plastic surgery and hand surgery conditions, both elective and emergency cases.

The Surgical Day Clinic is a ward with 18 beds that cares for both outpatients and inpatients. We care for patients from all surgical disciplines as well as specialties(gynaecology, Basel Rehabilitation Clinic and the ENT Clinic).

Monday to Friday 6.00 am to 7.00 pm.

Surgery B3.3 is a ward with currently 36 beds (including a neurosurgical monitoring unit with 7 beds).

In addition to the pre- and post-operative care of patients undergoing spinal surgery, after operations on the brain or cerebral vessels (see Neurosurgery), the care of patients with brain tumors and their relatives is another focus of care.

Surgery B3.4 is a ward with 30 beds.

We treat patients with vascular and musculoskeletal diseases, both elective and emergency cases.

Surgery B3.5 is a ward with 38 beds.

We primarily care for orthopaedic and traumatology patients, who are mainly admitted as emergencies.

Surgery B4.5 is a ward with 34 beds.

We care for thoracic and spinal surgery patients who are admitted both electively and as emergencies.

Surgery B3.6 is a ward with 35 beds.

We treat patients with visceral and thoracic surgical conditions, both elective and emergency cases.

Surgery B3.7 is a private ward with 23 beds.

We care for patients with cardiac and thoracic surgery,visceral surgery and vascular surgery, trauma, orthopaedic and spinal surgery, as well as hand surgery and peripheral nerve, urological, maxillofacial, plastic and reconstructive aesthetic surgery. hand surgery and peripheral nerve, urological, maxillofacial, plastic and reconstructive aesthetic surgery, most of which are both elective and emergency cases.

Surgery B4.7 is a private ward with 20 beds.

We treat patients from all surgical disciplines (except cardiac surgery), both elective and emergency.

The Medicine C4.5 ward has a total of 48 beds. This ward treats patients with a wide range of internal diseases with a focus on diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs, the kidneys, the gastrointestinal tract, the immune system and patients with tumors of various organ systems.

The Medicine C4.6 ward has 12 beds. Patients with a wide range of internal diseases are treated on this ward, with a focus on internal systemic diseases with skin manifestations. Patients with rheumatological diseases are also treated (rheumatology acute ward).

The Medicine C3.6 ward has a total of 44 beds. This ward treats patients with a wide range of internal medical conditions with a focus on diseases of the cardiovascular system, lungs and metabolism.

The Medicine C4.7 ward has a total of 48 beds. Patients with a wide range of internal diseases are treated on this ward, which also cares for patients with multiple addictions, for which experts work together on an interprofessional basis.

This ward treats patients with a wide range of internal diseases with a focus on diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs, the kidneys, the gastrointestinal tract, the immune system and patients with tumors of various organ systems. Patients following kidney transplants are also treated on this ward.
