Our Science

In our research, we focus on the interplay between the immune system and liver tumors. In particular, we’re interested to find out how chronic inflammation in the liver promotes liver cancer and how different types of inflammatory microenvironments influence the biology of liver cancer. In addition, we’re interested in oncogenes promoting liver tumors and what role they have in therapy responses. We’re working with human samples from liver cancer patients suffering also from chronic viral hepatitis or NASH/ASH.

 

In addition, we perform research in the field of molecular pathology and research on COVID-19, with a focus on the interplay between the immune response against SARS-Cov-2 and the effect on human tissue.
