November 27-28: Start of the workshop series on neuroangiography (BLAST 1) 2025

The "Basel Angiographic Seminar and Training" (BLAST) is a series of workshops on neuroangiography for 20 participants at a time. They are closely supervised in small groups by experienced neurointerventionalists. The course is held in English.

The first part, a two-day theory and hands-on course (led by Prof. Dr. med. Marios Psychogios, Head of Neuroradiology at the USB), is aimed at residents and specialists (with little or no experience). The practical exercises will be supervised by established neurointerventionalists in a 1:1 format, with hands-on training using Mentice simulators and various other occlusion, sheath, flow and 3D reconstruction models.

BLAST will take place for the second time in 2025, is supported by the German, Swiss and Austrian Society of Neuroradiology(DGNR, ÖGNR and SGNR) and is accredited with 12 CME category C points.

Learning objectives and content of the course held in English (1st part)

• Secure knowledge of neuroanatomy and the significance of the different vascular variations and anatomies for interventional neuroradiology
• Knowledge and mastery of various vascular access and closure systems in theory and practice
• Ability to name the materials required for neuroradiological angiography and to differentiate and select them for the procedure based on their properties
• Competent use of models and simulators: the aortic arch, intracranial vessels and aneurysms can be probed and various techniques applied.
• Knowledge of the various imaging techniques and practical know-how.
