Fire in University Hospital Basel quickly extinguished

Fortunately, there were no casualties. Late in the evening of 9 October 2023, there was a fire on the fourth floor of Clinic 1. According to current knowledge, a tea kettle started the fire, which was quickly extinguished. A large group of company fire brigade USB, professional fire brigade, paramedics, emergency medical services, police and security USB were on site. Fourteen people, including 11 patients, were evacuated from the vicinity of the fire and were medically examined. No one suffered smoke inhalation or other injuries. All patients can be placed elsewhere in the USB while the affected rooms are cleaned and repaired. This may take a few days. The hospital management would like to thank all those involved for their calm and courageous efforts.
