Show profile

The research focus of the "Translational Immunology and Diagnostic Stewardship" research group is mainly on three areas of interest:

  • Infectiology with a particular focus on antibiotic stewardship (rational use of antibiotics) and infections with Staphylococcus aureus. We work closely with the Clinic for Infectiology and Clinical Microbiology, among others.
  • Immunology with a focus on the complement system: Among other things, we are investigating the effectiveness of a C1 esterase inhibitor in the context of ischemia/reperfusion injury (e.g. myocardial infarction). We are in close contact with Prof. Trendelenburg's "Clinical Immunology" research group and specialist clinics (e.g. the Clinic for Cardiology).
  • Internal Medicine: Topics we are working on include the evaluation of diagnostic strategies and treatment quality as well as the use of decision support systems. These research projects are interdisciplinary and interprofessional.
