Working together in partnership

The University Hospital Basel is shaping the future of medicine with pioneering collaborations and partnerships. The professional groups in the hospital work together in an interprofessional and patient-oriented manner, and the clinics are managed by a team of doctors, nurses and business managers. True to its corporate values, the University Hospital Basel works courageously and responsibly to shape the Basel Joint Healthcare Region. It is internationally networked through research and support partnerships.

Strategic partnerships in acute and rehabilitation care

Good healthcare today works together. As a shaper in the Joint Healthcare Region, the University Hospital Basel is expanding its internal and external networks in order to advance the healthcare system and offer the population even better care.

Meetings are held several times a year at the highest level with representatives of the partner institutions. The aim is to organize the best possible treatment for all patients - at the right time and in the right place.

Examples of partnerships in the acute and rehabilitation sector

Bethesda Hospital Basel

Thanks to the combination of Bethesda Hospital and University Hospital Basel, we can offer our patients university medical treatment in the personal atmosphere of a private hospital - in the middle of the city. "University & personal" is also the motto of our orthopaedics department at Bethesda Hospital.

UAFP

The University Geriatric Medicine FELIX PLATTER (UAFP) and the University Hospital Basel work closely together when it comes to the care of older people. For example, in the event of an accident with a broken bone: the certified Basel geriatric trauma center is a joint university facility and guarantees optimal care before and after surgery, during rehabilitation and in preparation for the return from the acute hospital to the familiar environment of the UAFP.

For children, adolescents and adults with rare diseases, we have jointly established the University Center for Rare Diseases Basel. Joint treatment teams guarantee optimal care. Supra-regional care: Hôpital du Jura, Kantonsspital Aarau, Solothurner Spitäler

We think outside the region when it comes to the care of patients with complex illnesses and injuries. The Hôpital du Jura and the university hospital work together to ensure that university research findings are also brought quickly to the bedside of patients in the Jura, for example in cardiology or spinal surgery. The University Hospital Basel operates medical centers with supra-regional partners, for example with the Cantonal Hospital Aarau, and maintains a close professional exchange, for example in internal medicine with the Solothurn hospitals.
